About this program

This course helps participants understand the concepts behind the cash flow analysis. With it, participants will be able to identify and use projections in advanced manner for cash flow analysis

Overview

To enable participants to:

  • Analyze and interpret borrower’s cash flows (CFs) in meaningful manner
  • Identify early warning signals
  • Use projections for structuring of loans and assessing debt servicing capacity

The course is suitable for:

  • Those working in corporate, commercial and SME Lending. Those working in risk management and internal audit may also find the program useful.

Curriculum

Day 1:
  • Session 1: Competing needs for borrowers’ CFs
  • Session 2: Indications of healthy CFs
  • Session 3: Stages of company and CF patterns
  • Session 4: Interpretation of CF based ratios
Day 2:
  • Session 1: Cash exaggerations
  • Session 2: Recognizing non-recurring CFs
  • Session 3: Projecting CFs 
  • Session 4: Critical factors affecting projections 
  • Session 5: Strategic influences on projections
Day 3:
  • Session 1: Question the assumptions
  • Session 2: Structuring of loans
  • Session 3: Assessing risk through sensitivity analysis
  • Session 4: Balance sheet based lending vs CF based lending
  • Session 5: CF based lending for services sector

Program will focus on live case studies and annual reports of companies

He has also assisted banks in establishing integrated risk management and control systems, besides Basle compliance. Prof. Shinde has published a book titled ‘Cash flow Analysis for Lending and Investment’. He is also working as Short Term Consultant for World Bank Group (WBG).
